The Ballroom Babies are a rock trio from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The band consists of three brothers: Mike (drums/vocals), Steve (guitar/vocals) and Nathan (bass/vocals). From a young age, the three siblings shared a strong passion for music. They began performing in their first group, White Dove, before they had reached high school. Throughout their teenage years, each brother studied their respective instruments vigorously, enrolled in Humber College’s music program and formed separate bands. They have dedicated their lives to session work, touring, teaching and live performances. In 2010, after years of playing in different bands, they finally decided to form their own project, The Ballroom Babies.

The band immediately started to play the local bar scene, quickly building a reputation for being one of the best live bands in the circuit. Initially performing covers, the band had accumulated a large catalogue of original material and decided to turn their sights to making their first record. In 2011, they released their self-titled EP and hit the Toronto music scene hard. The song “Here In The Morning” received air play on CKUA radio in Alberta. They have maintained their reputation throughout Southern Ontario as a live band known for delivering tight performances with a huge and distinctive sound.

In 2012, the band began working on their next release. Hours of writing and self producing had prompted an evolution in the band’s sound and gave fruition to new material for their fans to discover. In September 2013, the band released their first full length, Change To Silver. The 15 song album has a rock undertone complimented by harmonies and aggressive guitar riffs. The album caught the attention of college radio stations in Canada. It charted at number 10 on CKXU 88.3FM in Lethbridge, Alberta and number 19 on CJSF 90.1Fm in Burnaby, British Columbia upon its release. Their fans, old and new, embraced the new record’s raw tone and experimentation with songwriting and dynamics. In support of their two singles, “In Bed With Yesterday” and “To Save Grace,” the band released videos shot during the studio sessions. The song “In Bed With Yesterday” charted as one of the top 3 rock songs of 2014, on La Collective Radio in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Through the videos, the band has also gained attention from rock fans in Europe, most notably
Germany and the UK.

2014 was a year of recognition and progress for The Ballroom Babies. The Mississauga Arts Council recognized the band’s efforts by awarding them the title of “Emerging Performing Artist” at the annual MARTY awards ceremony. In 2015 the band hit the road hard. They played a total of 52 independently booked shows across Ontario and cut their teeth opening for larger acts such as The Lazys and One Bad Son.

So far in 2016, they have released a live off the floor video of their arrangement of The Beatles song “Girl”. It was well received in Canada and Germany. The band is currently working on their third release due September 2016 which will correspond with a Canadian tour.
